Spherical Arc-length as a Global Conformal Parameter for Analytic Curves in the Riemann Sphere
We prove that for every analytic curve in the complex plane C, Euclidean and spherical arc-lengths are global conformal parameters. We also prove that for any analytic curve in the hyperbolic plane, hyperbolic arc-length is also a global parameter. We generalize some of these results to the case of analytic curves in R and C and we discuss the situation of curves in the Riemann sphere C ∪ {∞}. ...
متن کاملRobust sensing of arc length
During arc welding, the arc heats and melts the workpiece as heat flux. When the welding current is given, the distribution and the intensity of the heat flux are determined by the length of the arc. The measurement and control of the arc length are fundamental in robotic and automated welding operations. Length of welding arc determines the distribution of the arc energy and thus the heat inpu...
متن کاملApproximate Arc Length Parametrization
Current approaches to compute the arc length of a parametric curve rely on table lookup schemes. We present an approximate closed-form solution to the problem of computing an arc length parametrization for any given parametric curve. Our solution outputs a one or two-span Bézier curve which relates the length of the curve to the parametric variable. The main advantage of our approach is that we...
متن کاملGeometrical Interpretation of the Arc-length Method
The arc-length method is a powerful solution technique becoming increasingly popular among researchers and engineers. This method is presented here as a particular case of a more general formulation which includes all other solution strategies. The arc-length method is derived in its continuous and discrete formulations. Two versions of the arc-length method (Crisfield and Ramm) are presented a...
متن کاملARC-LENGTH ESTIMATIONS FOR QUADRATIC RATIONAL Bézier CURVES COINCIDING WITH ARC-LENGTH OF SPECIAL SHAPES
In this paper, we present arc-length estimations for quadratic rational Bézier curves using the length of polygon and distance between both end points. Our arc-length estimations coincide with the arc-length of the quadratic rational Bézier curve exactly when the weight w is 0, 1 and∞. We show that for all w > 0 our estimations are strictly increasing with respect to w. Moreover, we find the pa...
